Our Team
Caleb Berkeley
Caleb is a who likes to try new things all the time in gardening. He’s been around gardens since he was about 3 years old when his mom, dad, and two uncles built Caleb’s very first garden area. It was a little 3ft (0.91 m) x 8ft (2.44 m) space in the backyard, but that was the seed that sparked Caleb’s love of the garden. From that little space they grew the best cucumbers they tasted for the season. Now Caleb is always trying out new things and growing the best organic food. Caleb’s also the author of over 100 books for children and youth. A fun fact about Caleb is that his favourite vegetables are tomatoes and potatoes.

Elisha Berkeley
Elisha is an energetic gardener trying things out and see what works. His love for gardening started when he grew a cherry tomato bed in a raised bed that was in our front garden. The tomatoes he grew were some of the most delicious tasting tomatoes and what really got him hooked into gardening. Nowadays, he’s learning in the garden and trying to improve each time to become a better gardener. A fun fact is that he loves sweet peppers so much and is favourite vegetable.
Vaughn Berkeley
A digital nomad, a watcher, a traveller on this journey of life. I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I write when I have something to say, not just to hear my own voice. Many times I just observe the world and ponder the goings-on. And I love being in the garden and outdoors. If you have stumbled upon my writings, I want to welcome you with a warm heart and open arms. If you’re returning, it’s always good to have you back.
My hope for you is that my writing might give you a thought to ponder. But I’m also a realist and know that not every style of writing appeals to everyone. Enjoy the writing.
Our Backstory
Well, if you’re interested, we’ll tell you about our backstory.
A Dream
It all began with a husband and wife, Vaughn and Jenny, who had a dream of growing more healthy and homegrown food in their little backyard in the suburbs of Toronto. They didn’t see themselves as gardeners because they had not grown anything besides tending the odd potted plant. Yet, that dream was there, and it was only fuelled by their love of visiting the farmer’s markets around Toronto, and Oshawa. Every time they spoke to a farmer, they felt a little more inspired.
A Book
Around 2012 after Jenny’s first book was published, Vaughn and Jenny decided to coauthor a book about food insecurity. This book had a lot to do with Vaughn and Jenny’s time working in a food bank in Toronto in the early 2000s. Vaughn had a passion for helping the poor and those suffering with food insecurity.
Life Happens
That was many years ago. Since that first garden, we’ve gone through lots of life adventures together. Now, this phase of our adventure involves country living!
A New Vision
Now that Caleb and Elisha are big enough to take over the site, they get to make it according to their vision.
